Who said that? A quiz for New Year ~ part 1

It wouldn't be the festive season without a game or a quiz, so this weekend we are offering you a short, two-part New Year's quiz about Liberals, Liberal Democrats and liberalism, in the words of the politicians and thinkers who have shaped the party and its views. Who said what?

Today -- Liberal Democrats from recent years. Tomorrow -- Liberal thinkers and politicians from times past.

Answers to both parts of the quiz will be published on Monday's bank holiday. Quotations are all taken from The Dictionary of Liberal Quotations by Duncan Brack (of the Liberal Democrat History Group), which is an informative and entertaining book to dip into, and worth adding to the list if you are already starting to plan ahead for Christmas 2017's stocking filler presents for the Lib Dems in your life!
