Suffolk EU Alliance ~ Café Continental
Congratulations (and thanks) to the Suffolk EU Alliance, on their very successful "Café Continental" event, held in Framlingham on Saturday 22 April. There was a splendid turnout and an excellent atmosphere, with friends old and new from across the political spectrum, from all parties and none. The audience was drawn together by a wide range of stimulating and engaging speeches which covered many aspects of Brexit, exploring our shared "Remain" stance in last year's Referendum, and looking ahead to the future. We hope that there will be more events like this.
Speakers on Saturday included:
- Professor Emeritus Murray Forsyth, on "Origins of the EU -- and future?"
- Dr Robbie Moffat, on "The NHS and Brexit"
- Mark Gibbons, on "How Brexit will hit East Anglia"
- Alex Mayer, Labour MEP for the East of England, on "Politics -- the state of the parties"
- Simon Barrow, on "The UK never made the emotional case for Europe -- why it still needs to be made"
- Belinda Brooks-Gordon, our own regional spokesperson on Brexit for the Liberal Democrats in the East of England.
