Suffolk Coastal Liberal Democrats AGM - and a visit from Baroness Sally Hamwee

17 Jan 2016

Friday 20th November 2015 saw the AGM of Suffolk Coastal Liberal Democrats, with guest speaker Baroness Sally Hamwee. Sally is a Liberal Democrat Peer and Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Home Affairs, Justice and Equalities (Home Office), as well as being part of the Joint Committee on Human Rights. She travelled from London to talk to us about the role of Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords, and how work in the Lords has changed post-election. She also led a lively discussion on the issues surrounding refugees.

After Sally Hamwee's engaging and thought-provoking talk, we turned our attention to another Sally. Sally Bull was presented with a gift in recognition of her unstinting and enthusiastic service as Chairman of the Suffolk Coastal Liberal Democrats, a post from which she is now standing down. We would like to thank Sally for her many years of hard work - she will be a tough act to follow, but Jon Neal has taken on the mantle.
