Saxmundham based Julia Ewart has been selected as the prospective parliamentary candidate to contest the Suffolk Coastal constituency at the next election. Julia is the Chair of Suffolk /EU alliance and is a leading campaigner in the fight against Brexit.

Suffolk Coastal members packed the Fairfield Centre in Aldeburgh on Saturday afternoon to select their prospective candidate to challenge the sitting Tory member Dr Therese Coffey at the next General Election. Julia Ewart was one of four shortlisted candidates to address and answer members' questions and shortly after 4pm the Regional Returning Officer announced the result of the ballot undertaken under the Single Transferable Vote.

Speaking shortly after the result was announced, Julia known as Jules, expressed her appreciation to the large assembly of members present and thanked her fellow candidates.

Julia said, 'It's a changing time in politics and the LibDems, with a growing number of members and supporters can take advantage of these opportunities at forthcoming local elections. I will now dedicate my time to make the difference for our constituency and help deliver the much sought after change here in Suffolk and help to give the constituency a political party worth voting for'.
