It seems a long time ago now, after all the fuss of the EU Referendum and a General Election in between, but back in May 2016, the election for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk resulted in the position going to Tim Passmore (Conservative) for a second term. Is he doing doing a good job on our behalf? Are you happy with policing in your area? Are your local priorities being taken into account?

The PCC has been holding a series of public meetings in each of the "Safer Neighbourhood" areas in Suffolk, and two are scheduled in Suffolk Coastal in November. If you have questions that you want to ask him, or your local police superintendent, or the police inspector responsible for policing in your area, then note the date in your diary. There is no need to book.

  • Thursday 2 November, 7 p.m.: Woodbridge (held at Woodbridge School, IP12 4JH)
  • Tuesday 28 November, 7 p.m.: Leiston (held at Sizewell Sports and Social Club, IP16 4JX)

If you're wondering about the topics that typically crop up in these sessions, and the sort of response that you can expect, you can read the notes from the public meeting held in Felixstowe back in May. Topics raised by the public at that meeting included:

  • speeding and other traffic issues
  • parking
  • closure of Felixstowe police station to the public, and lack of visible policing
  • burglaries, and the impact of street lighting being switched off at night
  • anti-social behaviour in public places.

You can read more about the work of the police's Safer Neighbourhood Team in your area on the Suffolk Police website, as follows:
