"Protect Suffolk's frontline policing", says Helen Korfanty

Police stations are closing to the public, the number of PCSOs is being reduced, fewer police officers are to be seen dealing with everyday issues on the street, and there is less direct contact between the Safer Neighbourhood Teams and their communities - all as a result of recent cost-cutting in Suffolk Constabulary.

Helen Korfanty (the Liberal Democrat choice to be Suffolk's new Police & Crime Commissioner) is a staunch defender of community policing. "Our local police work really hard," she says. "But they have been let down by the Conservative Police Commissioner and the Conservatives in government, who have overseen cuts to frontline policing. If elected in May, I will make protecting and investing in frontline policing a top priority."
