Meet the candidate ~ Jan Candy, Felixstowe Coastal

Jan Candy

Jan loves Felixstowe! Having lived in Suffolk since 1977 Jan believes that Felixstowe is the best place to live, work and be happy and now regards it as her challenge to put that enthusiasm to work on the behalf of our local residents.

Jan has been the UK President of the Human Rights Organisation FIAN, a regional trainer for Amnesty International, a school governor and throughout her 40 years in Suffolk has enjoyed being creative and inspired by such a splendid county.

On the local level Jan wants the best for Felixstowe Coastal and if this means unlocking some of the excessive Conservative cash reserves to fund much needed care in our community and basic maintenance for our roads and pavements then so be it. Children also need our care and attention and funding a mental health strategy in our schools would also be a priority. They are our future and we must look after them.

Looking back, the first vote that Jan cast was the vote to join the Common Market! Throughout all of her adult life she has seen the benefits of travel and trade in an enlarging fraternity of European countries and believes that this sense of freedom and trust with our closest neighbours has opened hearts and minds to different cultures and ways of being in the most beneficial way. We are European, and Jan will fight to try to ensure that her children and lovely little grandson can have the benefits of knowing our neighbours, business partners and trusted allies in the same unfettered and stimulating manner that she has had the benefit of.

Jan will listen to the people of Felixstowe Coastal and genuinely try to implement changes for the good for the sake of our beautiful town and county.
