Green Party agrees to support David Beavan in Southwold and Reydon By-Election

Statement by Waveney Green Party

Waveney Green Party have chosen not to stand a candidate in the Southwold & Reydon by-election because we believe David Beavan, the Liberal Democrat candidate, has a good chance of winning and that he will be able to work closely with Green Councillor Graham Elliott if elected to Waveney District Council.

Waveney Green Party are endorsing David as a candidate and not the Lib Dems as a party. In response the Lib Dems have pledged not to put up a candidate against Graham Elliott and Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw who will be standing together in Beccles for the Green Party in May 2019.

In a statement, Graham Elliott said, "We urge our supporters to vote for David Beavan at this by-election. David is a very green-leaning Lib Dem and his stand against second homes and tax avoidance is commendable. We need to work together to achieve a fairer society and to ensure there is real and effective opposition to the Conservatives in Waveney."
