"Green Hero - Jules Ewart"

Jules Ewart, Lib Dem candidate for Suffolk Coastal receives her 'Green Accreditation',

Keith Melton and Laura Sykes interviewed Suffolk Coastal candidate Jules for the Green Lib Dems website as part of their 'Green Hero' series, featuring some of the LibDem's Greenest candidates.

Jules has just received her 'Green Accreditation', which is an endorsement as a Liberal Democrat who visibly supports 'Green' values and policies.

In the article Jules says:

"In Suffolk Coastal it's the challenge of how to get renewable energy into the national grid without disruptive tracks of up to 8 miles long being carved through the land from the coast ... transformation technology and planning policy should be equally green.

"I'd like to be the originator of the Green Grid. It's okay having smug deadlines to be "carbon neutral" but how each of us gets there is important ... starting right now. If I buy a boiler, a car, a wood burner ... should I even bother - and if so what type? Or, if not, what to use? How can we reduce our carbon footprint in our homes, in our lives? Is it worth investing in solar panels, or a mini-turbine? We need to give people practical advice. While Suffolk County Council is cutting bus services, I'd like to see them increase. I'd like to develop pendulum electric clipper transport for our area that swings really regularly between rural destinations. If they're frequent enough, more people will use them."
