Liberal Democrat members and supporters met on Sunday in Kelsale to adopt James Sandbach as Suffolk Coastal parliamentary candidate for the General Election on 8 June. James has both a national profile as a social justice campaigner, and a local profile as a Saxmundham Town Councillor. He stood for the Liberal Democrats for Suffolk Coastal in 2015.

More than 50 local people came to show their support for James' campaign, including Baroness Ros Scott and neighbouring prospective Lib Dem candidate for Central Suffolk & North Ipswich, Aidan Van de Weyer.

James said: "I am delighted to again be taking the Lib Dem message to Suffolk Coastal voters. Many voters I meet in Suffolk are deeply concerned about the direction the Conservatives are taking our country but can't support Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party - we offer an agenda for an open tolerant and united Britain, and an alternative to the hard Brexit course of Corbyn and May."
