James Sandbach is Prospective Candidate to contest Central Suffolk & N. Ipswich seat

JAMES SANDBACH is Lib the DEMS prospective parliamentary candidate for CENTRAL Suffolk & NORTH IPSWICH

James Sandbach is a Town Councillor for Saxmundham who stood for the Lib Dems in Suffolk Coastal in the last two General Elections, and has also been a Parliamentary candidate in Essex and London.

James is the Director (Policy and External Affairs) of a National Legal Advice Charity (LawWorks - the Solicitors Pro Bono Group), and has held senior management and policy roles in number of charities and non governmental organisations. He has run several successful campaigns on disability issues, consumer rights and access to justice, often leading to a change in the law. He is also the chair of the Liberal Democrats Lawyers Association. As well as being called to the Bar (non-practising Barrister) he is - like the incumbent MP - a "doctor", but not a medical one (although he's married to a local medic), rather his doctorate was in political science, with particular expertise in failed states - which he never thought could happen in the UK.

At a recent meeting of members and supporters in Framlingham, James said:

"I am delighted to be asked to represent the Central Suffolk & North Ipswich seat and challenge the current Brexit Government and their chaotic plans to gamble away the country's economy, shut down free movement and limit the future education, cultural and employment opportunities for both the current and future generations. The present MP had made it apparently clear that the Government was 100% for Leaving the EU and No Deal and that there was no room for anyone who argued against.

A No Deal departure with significant export tariffs and zero import tariffs would seriously impact our local farming industry and risked putting many out of business, organic producers would find the barriers going up on day one and small export businesses would experience considerable additional paperwork and costs'. Meanwhile as local public services continue to struggle to cope with a rising demand and a shortage of funds the Government was throwing billions into preparing for a wholly unnecessary, potentially disastrous Brexit and putting citizens' health and well being at risk in an irresponsible act of self harm". The Liberal Democrats were the consistent main opposition to Brexit and buoyed by success in the local and European elections, a further 60,0000 members and supporters in the past three months and a growing parliamentary force".
