"I'm voting to remain in the EU because..."
14 Jun 2016
What personal reasons do people have for wanting the UK to stay in the European Union? We asked some voters in the Suffolk Coastal area why they want to remain in the EU, and here are some of the reasons they gave:
- "I don't want my children to have less freedom than I do."
- "I want us to co-operate with our neighbours. I don't want us always to be the one saying no, and refusing to take part."
- "I have studied, lived and worked in mainland Europe, and want others to be able to do the same."
- "I don't want to be left isolated in Little Britain."
- "We live in an interconnected and complex world, and opting out is not the way to success."
- "I just feel European."
- "Without the EU, I'd find it much harder to get funding for a PhD, and my research department might well dry up."
- "I believe in going forwards, not backwards."
- "I don't want Great Britain to become Little England."
- "By pulling together, we can make it work. If we leave, everyone else might leave, and then we'll all be worse off."
- "I don't want there to be any more wars in Europe. There have been enough wars, and the EU is important in preventing more."
