"I haven't undertaken an analysis of the impact of Brexit on Suffolk Coastal economy and won't be doing so says local MP
Local MP answers concerns about the social and economic impact of a No Deal Brexit upon Suffolk Coastal
A local constituent (who is not a member of the Liberal Democrats) recently asked local Tory MP, Theresa Coffey for her 'assessment of the economic and social implications (both intermediate and longer term) for the Suffolk Coastal area should a no deal exit from the EU be the outcome'.
Her response: "I haven't undertaken that analysis and won't be doing so. You can look online at https://www.gov.uk/government/Brexit for more information."
As recently reported on the website, the newly promoted Minister has fully signed up to the No deal Brexit government and now appears to be totally indifferent to the the impact upon her constituents of crashing out of the EU on 31st October.
In her response Dr Coffey said:
'I support the Prime Minister in his intention for the UK to leave the EU on October 31st'.
'He has stated that he intend to secure a deal but if that is not possible then the UK will leave without a deal'.
So now we know what our MP thinks.
The correspondent who wishes to remain anonymous says that they are 'completely incredulous that a sitting MP can commit to supporting an potential course of action that is going to have massive impact on her constituents without having evaluated the impact in some way, and even worse, has actively declared that she has no intention of assessing the impact. It's not as if her constituency is home to one of the UK's largest container ports or has a significant agricultural base which is dependent on a seasonal workforce or anything like that!'
