Suffolk members and supporters will be especially pleased that one of its East Suffolk Party campaigners Julia Ewart has a place on the seven person Eastern Region list.

Lead candidate Barbara Gibson from Welwyn, Herts,said:

"Our relationship with the EU is critical to the UK economy, and we need MEPs who are capable of representing the best interests of our country and building bridges.People are turning to the Liberal Democrats because they know we stand for British values of fairness, tolerance and equality of opportunity. They won't be taken in by the hateful rhetoric of the extremists."

Our team of candidates is made up of committed local leaders who are deeply rooted in our communities, backed by more than 10,000 Lib Dem members and more than 300 local councillors in the region. As such, we are the party with the best capability of winning seats and ensuring that the region's interests are well-represented for as long as we remain in the EU."

Announcing the national launch of the European election campaign Party Leader, Vince Cable said:

"The strength Liberal Democrats bring to this campaign is our determined army of volunteers standing against Brexit and working for their communities."
