North Norfolk Liberal Democrat MP, Norman Lamb has been knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours announced on Friday, June 7

Currently chair of the science and technology select committee, Norman Lamb was the Party's Health Minister under the Coalition Government and championed the cause of mental health and getting parity with physical health, a cause he is "passionate" about.

Sir Norman, who received his knighthood for public and political service, has been the Liberal Democrat member of parliament for his North Norfolk coastal constituency since 2001.

Over his 18 year political career, he has served in parliamentary roles including party health spokesperson and shadow health secretary.

Speaking to the North Norfolk News,Sir Norman said: "I'm obviously thrilled and very honoured adding that the citation particularly mentioned mental health work. These are the things that really motivate me, and I continue, after 18 years of being elected, to fight for these causes".

Norman has had plenty of additional reasons to celebrate in 2019, in the recent local elections the Lib Dems took control of the North Norfolk District Council and his football team won through to the Premiership.

From all Liberal Democrats south of the border, Sir Norman, we will forgive you your choice of football team and send you our warmest best wishes and congratulations on your very well deserved honour.
