Change Britain's future - the Liberal Democrat manifesto
In the introduction to the Liberal Democrat Manifesto 2017, Tim Farron stresses that Theresa May's Conservative Party is likely to win the General Election on 8th June, while the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn offers only a continuation of the weak and ineffectual opposition that we have seen in the current parliament. Yet governments without strong opposition are bad governments.
The Liberal Democrats will not enter into coalition with either Theresa May's Conservatives or Jeremy Corbyn's Labour. But with sufficient support from voters we could become the official opposition party that will hold the government to account over:
- spending on the NHS
- young people's education, skills and opportunites
- protection of the environment
- our future relationship with Europe.
"You can stand up for a Britain that is open, tolerant and united.
You can change the opposition. You can change Britain's future."
