Caroline Page ~ a safe pair of hands in Woodbridge

13 Apr 2017

Caroline Page, the County Councillor for Woodbridge, promises to continue offering the same strong safe pair of hands that she has provided for Woodbridge since 2008.

Caroline has fought hard for things that you have told her matter to you: for libraries, local bus services, youth travel, traffic calming, benches and protection from scammers. An outspoken critic of Suffolk's Conservative county council's 'outsourcing' of road repairs, she started the Woodbridge pavement gritting scheme. Caroline helped restart the New Horizons club last year and is now involved in trying to rebuild the Woodbridge Youth centre.

With all this, Caroline is very accessible. She has seen nearly 700 people at the monthly open-access surgery she's run since 2010 - the only such surgery in Suffolk Coastal. If you miss her there, you can generally catch her for a chat, walking in the town, browsing in the shops, enjoying the estuary or travelling on public transport.

With Caroline as County Councillor you're voting for someone who really knows and cares for Woodbridge town, and how it works. From transport to libraries, disability to discrimination, youth clubs to lunch clubs, Caroline always champions the needs of the people in the town that she loves. A fulltime family carer for many years, she campaigns vigorously for carer's rights and champions disability issues.

Local residents elected Caroline to be their county councillor in 2008. They re-elected her in 2009 and 2013. In Suffolk County Council, Caroline is Lib Dem spokesperson Transport & Highways, Vice-Chair of the ever more vital Education Transport Appeals Committee and serves on the Suffolk Speed Panel.

How green was my Councillor?

Caroline does everything she can to keep our town 'green' yet vibrant. From restoring the Woodbridge Ipswich Sunday bus service to working to fix the air quality at the end of the Thoroughfare with new 20mph zoning and simpler parking regulations, Caroline has a record of action. She is now hoping to persuade the Ipswich-Martlesham Park & Ride to offer a service out to Woodbridge for visitors and shoppers. How many County Councillors get caught on Google Street view, standing at their bus stop? Caroline did! This is because she walks the walk - to catch the 64.
